A brief history

Steve and Janice started building custom homes in the high-interest rate environment of the late 70’s. He weathered the devaluation of real estate and the plummeting economy of the 80’s. Today Steve and Janice Hawkins still operate Steve Hawkins Custom Homes on a daily basis with a personal dedication to God, family and customer satisfaction. These priorities, combined with honesty and hard work, continue to bring the success that was once only a dream.

“We started very conservatively,” Steve explains. “We would build a home and move into it, sell it and start building another. Finally, we had sufficient capital to build two houses at the same time.”

Steve has employed most of his staff, subcontractors, and suppliers for many years. Most of his suppliers and subcontractors have worked with Steve for over 20 years. Steve gives much credit for the company’s success to his staff, who are devoted to assisting customers through the entire construction process, from pre construction design, to pouring of the foundation, and during the framing, finishing and decorating. All customers have follow-up meetings after move-in to ensure all warranty work is accomplished in a timely manner.
